Job Description: • The individual’s background must be in IT infrastructure with virtualization security as a specialty. • The individual will be primarily responsible for working within the VMware vSphere environment to securely build, modify, deploy, and configure Windows and Linux based virtual machines (VMs) in support of both new and legacy systems. • The job will require working closely with a cross-functional team (tech, infrastructure and security team) to ensure smooth performance of all VMs. • The individual should understand VMs and the vSphere environment enough to be able to make updates as needed as well as possess a deep knowledge of the installation, configuration, and updating of VMware tools. • The individual understands both traditional bare-metal virtualization as well as container-based virtualization (CBV). • The individual can handle all prevalent technologies, such as VMware, Docker and Kubernetes. • The individual can design or review a virtualization architecture, understand virtual networking and can handle different levels of scale: from standalone server to on-premises private cloud. • The individual can also review technology specific configurations and have understanding on cloud virtualization, but the focus is on on-premises and bare metal solutions and you are vendor-agnostic. • Ability to understand key points of other technologies, their use, and how they interconnect to the domain. The individual must be able to adapt and use knowledge in various contexts and have a system-based approach. Utilize the expertise on different levels: can review high level architecture as well as go through a configuration review. • The individual must have a general interest in cyber security and an eye for vulnerabilities. Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language (such as Python or Powershell) and is willing to step outside the comfort zone to learn more. • Prior maintenance experience and troubleshooting techniques is required. |
